Stop What You're Doing and Download These Apps for the Home ...

Apps, apps, apps: it seems like there?s one for just about everything these days. It?s easy to get carried away, but if you?ve got a smartphone and/or a tablet you?ve got the upperhand when it comes to convenient functionality. Naturally, we?re most interested in the apps that?ll help you around the house. Here?s our picks for home-related apps, free and paid. Whether you?re building an addition or choosing party cocktails, we?ve got you covered.

Paint Colors: Choosing wall colors has to be one of the most challenging home improvement exercises, especially for the OCD-inclined. With thousands of choices available, a little extra help is more than welcome. Enter the Color Capture (Benjamin Williams ? free) and Color Snap (Sherwin Williams ? free) apps. As soon as you see a color that catches your attention, take a picture and these babies will point you in the direction of a matching swatch. Need some visualization help? The Color Change app ($2.99) allows you to ?paint? your walls without actually making a mess.

Weekend Warriors: If your home improvement projects go a further than simply changing up colors, check out these apps. iHandy Carpenter ($1.99) puts a handful of tools within easy reach. You never know when you?ll need a ruler or a level! Home Depot?s free app makes online shopping and browsing a breeze, plus you can check if your local store carries what you need. When you?re in-store, use the RedLaser app (free). It?s a pocket sized barcode reader that?ll easily let you know if there?s a better deal to be had elsewhere.

Domestic Concerns: The Internet presents an overload of interior design ideas, (ever spent hours on Pinterest?), but there?s a slew of apps that?ll help you organize your ideas. One of our favorites is Houzz Interior Design Ideas (free). It?s loaded with 200,000 high quality images that are easily searchable and savable. The I.D. Wood app ($4.99) is a pretty nifty tool that?ll help you identify wood tones, and also sort them by durability, sustainability, etc. There?s a whole category of gardening apps, but one of the best is the Eden Garden Designer ($1.99). It?ll help you design your green space as well as serving as a well-made encyclopedia of plants. Lastly, the Epicurious app (free) is an award-winning repository of over 30,000 food and drink recipes sourced from your favorite foodie mags and cookbooks.
