Milkshakes Anytime: Twitter Step-Mama Drama

If you are ever feeling real good about step-parenting, do not do a search for the word "stepmom" on Twitter just to see what might pop up.? You will quickly find our little club is not a popular group.? I copy and pasted a few of the tweets I found (all posted within the last hour, by the way) so you could share my pain.? :)? One more side note, there is a bit of "language" in some of these tweets.? The "language" in the tweets I chose was mild compared to many of the tweets I found. It was difficult to find tweets this clean when it came to discussing step-moms.?

Obviously, Step-Moms have a huge public relations problem.? From Disney Fairy Tales to top tweets on Twitter, we are seen as nasty, vindictive, scary, irritating, and the list of negative adjectives is endless.? Where am I going with this?? First of all, for those contemplating becoming a Step-Mom, it is important to understand the emotional minefield you very well may face.? For those of us already bestowed with the title, let's keep supporting one another, and also talking.? These tweets say many things to me, but one clear message is hurt.? These children are hurting, and very likely so are the step-mamas.? The support for blended families, although improving daily particularly as social media and the blogging community expands, is still sorely lacking.? Let's be a soft place to land for one another.? Let's share our victories, our lessons, and how we can "do" blended family living better. ? I will continue to post about Step-Mom issues and I hope my fantastic readers will continue to send in your questions and concerns and let's keep chatting.? It's the way we will all get better.? As a final note, I did want to share two awesome tweets about Step-Moms I found while I was looking around.? Both of these glowing tweets came about as a result of a good meal a Step-Mom prepared.? You've heard the saying, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach"?? Perhaps, the same holds true for our step-babies.
