Can you be a foster parent or adopt while going to grad school ...

Question by : Can you be a foster parent or adopt while going to grad school?
I am interested in becoming a foster parent or an adoptive parent in a little over a year. I may be continuing on to grad school once I graduate, but I am not sure yet.
I was wondering if you can you become a foster parent or adopt while going to grad school either part time or full time? Also, is there a requirement on how long after you graduate before you can become a foster parent or adoptive parent?
I was also wondering is there an age limit on the child that you can get placed with depending on your age. (I will be around 22 when I want to start the process.)
I have done research online and even search the New York State adoption laws and have not been able to find the answer to these question.

i might be wasting time answering cause i dont know the laws. Its great that you want to help foster kids. But you are going to need a stable home to do it. i think foster care they give you money but not alot and adoption you have to pay and provide for that child. Doing all this during grad school maybe hard. children need love and attention and may cause stress and school work not being done. I attend regular college with one child and seem to not get anything done with cleaning, cooking, work and taking care of her. well, goodluck with your decision. i think you should do it after grad school though
